Online Profile- A Webzume
I am convinced that the resume will be replaced by an online profile. Well, maybe not replaced, but definitely as part of a cyber-documentary called YOU. I’ve been working on mine for awhile…and slowly. But it’s coming along.
As an American City Girl, we are about ‘Expanding Local Relationships through Social Technology’ so an online footprint and access points are an important component to our mission. Jessie and I came up with term webzume…I think it’s cute!
Of course, online profiles are an intrinsic part of my husband Alex’s business, Peer Producers, and my thinking buddy Jessie Newburn keeps space in her client list to work explicitly to help you think about, get started and managing your Internet footprint.
Here’s the how mine is taking shape.
Landing Page
I have a landing page at www.cheriebeck.com. If you google me, primary pointing page. My landing primarily points you to this Coera site. I am in the thinking process about the next version of this landing site so change is likely.
Blog
I started several blogs but the mindshift to blog has come very slowly. My solution is to consolidate my posts thus far under one blog and you are reading. Welcome to Shiny Bits!
Social Networks
I am really diggin’ Facebook as social networking platform. I highly recommend it. Give me a poke if you’ve got a network going there. You will have to get an account to see my profile.
Security is high priority for these folks. It’s one of the reasons I love it.
I am interested in Linked In. I have started adding connections having learned that it is a good way to keep up with people you worked or work with.
I am also a member of Zaadz. It’s a playground for me now. Not building anything significant there.
I have a Ziggs profile too. I really loved this site until the latest upgrade. There last upgrade left me less than excited. Social networking site are breaking new ground, competing for attention, adding functionality and it’s got a way to go before it all shakes out. Ziggs, in my opinion, is still the best public profile format.
Coming soon is my Delicious links and a Flickr account for photos. In the meantime, I can send you one part of my del.ic.ious portfolio where I am tracking comments made on other blogs. (Don’t tell anyone it also sends you to a very unorganized delicious account anyway!)
Last, but not least, a google search on my name yeilds all kind of links. I am using Coera.us to help aggregate and organize them all!
